Maybe the organization picks a captain for each state and he selects the
team. Each team could include one female. This would give spectators
a bathroom break (j/k).

I dont think that there would be 50 competitive states and how do you decide where a player lives. Afterall the bills are in their gf's name.

I like the concept. Almost like the North South deal.

A newer format with a Presidents or Walkers Cup type feel.
Keep a running total of wins and loss on a leaderboard.
4 days of play with different games.
There could be an individual winner and a team winner.
Day 1
8 ball or nine ball
onepocket
straight pool
8 or 9 ball

Each player plays each of the other 5 in each discipline.
Captains determine order. Each player could win 5 matches
each day.

I dont really know how long the straight pool matches or the one pocket would take. The 8 ball and 9 ball should be no trouble time wise.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And as for the Women , they can just pick there best 5 players in the World.

God am I in trouble for this one............

And as for Texas , they can be the first victims of TEAM OHIO.Lol

Thanks Sherm, maybe we'll put you in as a sponsor.

Ok.. now let's do some stats gathering...

AZBilliards has brackets from some of the more popular regional and of course the National events. Going back and looking for the results of the Ohio Boys versus the Florida boys should be interesting.

Team Ohio vrs Team Florida...

What team has the better record for the last two years?

I think it would be real close...

Anyone care to look up the bracket winners?

Keep in mind. Native Floridians, not transplants.

Does that mean Troy Frank originally from Canton, Ohio who now lives in FL would play for team OH ?

My picks for team OH would be
CORY DEUEL
TROY FRANK
DEE ADKINS
JASON MILLER
STEVE MCANINCH
HOWARD VICKERY
LEIL GAY
AND MAYBE THAT PUTNAM GUY
OHH, AND ALSO ERIC DURBIN TO HELP KEEP THE ACTION ALIVE

Aside from Archer, what other pros are from Georgia? I heard a few champions come from there, but I forget who they were.

Yeah that would be a hard one for Florida cause everybody knows that Florida is made up of non Floridians.

This is like sandlot footbal, makin' up the rules as ya go along...HAHAHA. Only native Floridians are the Miccosukee/Seminole Indians, lol. But if ya removed the Native rule...Florida is the nutz right now. I know, I know...I live here and DriverMaker will call me homer again but WTF, its the truth!!

Lets design a State vs. State challenge where 5 of the best players from each state battle for the honor of there State. Example= Ohio vs. Florida.

World Pool.com will film each match and hopefully through sponsorships we can generate alot of money for the players.

Give me some feedback ?

NewYork vs Chi-town,, :D :D

Another Ohioan who plays jam-up, when he has his head in it, is Tommy "Blackie" Stevenson. He beat Earl in Louisville a few years ago, along with some other top players. He kinda reminds me of the character Tom Cruise played in TCOM. Last I heard he was too busy working at K-Mart to play in tournaments.

just more hot air!

be nice to see 1 of the 5 be an amateur young gun type to see what the state's got coming up though.

That's called the Valley State Championships.
No offense, I respect all you guys.
But this is to reward and acknowledge all the hard work of the PROS in your States.
Practice hard and you'll be rewarded. For a change!!!!!!

Sherm,

That ain't no lie. Tommy is back at it. He won a decent sized tournament a couple of weeks ago in KY, I believe. Had some big names but Tommy took it off. No one has to beat Tommy. He has a super game, if his heart was really in it, he could be really tough. He has beat Strickland on more than one occassion along with many other pro's. He took 3rd in the DCC 9 ball a couple of years ago. I would put him in the top 5 of Ohio even though he may not get to many tourneys. JMHO..

Actually ...

I think a state vs. state competition is a good idea.

But, I think it should be conducted:

1) No pros allowed (too much stacking the deck)
2) Sponsored by billiard rooms or other sponsors.
Whoever contributes the most will host the event.
3) Round robin competition, match up individual play,
Scotch doubles play, and team play.
(8 ball, 9 ball, and one pocket played)
4) Nominal fee to watch competition.
5) 2 day events. (Sat. and Sun)
6) Scoring system to rate states and players for state.
7) Calcutta if permitted.

Kind of like Mosconi cup play between the states on a Semi-Pro level.

Hello Shawn,
I'm very interested in a geographically based competition and would like to discuss this further with you. Please feel free to PM me, at your convenience.
