States that have a pool Championship?

Is there some place to get info on pool state championships? Doesn't matter the game but preferably 9 ball. I am interested in playing in some if they are close.
I haven't played in very many tournaments but am looking to. I played in the DCC banks event this past January. I only did it to recieve entry to the whole thing. I didn't make it through the first round (drawed Larry Nevel) but went hill-hill losing 5-3 in the last game. It was a great confidence booster since I don't consider myself to be a good bank player. Any help would be great!

State Championships

If they are state championships, they have to have certification of them
being such. Most are recognized as such through some type of league, like
BCA, Valley, and yes, even APA.

You can hold State Championships though without being affiliated with any league, but like I said, you have to file something with the state, and get approved to do so. Paul down at Shooters here used to hold a $4,000
added State 8 ball Championship with no league affiliation, but eventually did away with it, and went to a $2,000 added 128 player handicapped 9 ball tournament. This is commonly known around here as the Thanksgiving tournament since it occurs over Thanksgiving weekend every year.

Some just have a championship in one game or the other, few states actually have 8 and 9 ball Championships. Most states allow non-resident players (out-of-state) players, which I always thought funny considering it was for one particular state.

I won the Kansas State BCA Championship in 2003 in 8 ball, and my team also won the team champioship. I also know that Gabe has won the Texas 9 ball Championship in the past, probably because of double J, who dwells down in Houston. (they are good friends).
