I have a friend who found this stick at a garage sale. We don't know much about them but, it's our vauge understanding that they were the first fiberglass cues made before Cuetec started using this design!?

Any idea of their value, etc.??? Thanks in advance for your input

Steel Stix....Got mine in 1989

I got one of those close to when they first came out.
My girlfriend bought it for me for my birthday in Sept. of 1989, and I still have it.
It looks just like the one in the picture, with the addition of some battle scars on the handle from a bar fight in Tucson which I covered with rubber dip.
That stick was close to $200 when she bought it as I remember seeing the reciept.
So, mine is at least 21 years old.

I believe they were a sort of predecessor to Cuetec, in fact Cuetec sort of "stole" the design and had their cues made in the same factory. Some sort of "industrial espionage". Apparently there was a law suit over it.

An internet search reveals somebody named Randy Sines was apparently on the ground floor, perhaps the original inventor or developer of the cues, but I find little about the matter and one mention of him being retired with an implication that said retirement was enabled by the results of the lawsuit against Cuetec.

Value? I dunno. Depends on whether or not anybody is interested. Personally I think there is some historic value as an example of what gave rise to Cuetec. If anything boosts it's value beyond an old Cuetec that would be it. I don't think it's value would be very strong anyway though.

Interesting find.
