i guess i need a photography lesson
there's things, white spots, particularly on the buttsleeve, showing in pics that aren't visible on cue.
what am i doing wrong????

You need a "Light-Box" and not use a flash...
The box would be just large enough to leave ~6" of free space all around the cue. The cue should not "lay" on the bottom- but be propped up about 4".
the sides would be a frosted white transparent material to diffuse any direct lighting. light would be provided externally from all sides...

Some of those reflections are dust in the air- captured by the digital camera flash. (Ever try to take a flash-pic in the rain? Or near a campfire?)
