Does anybody have a Sterling case, what have you thought about it, quality, fit and finish. I am thinking about buying either an Instroke Buffalo 2x4 case or this Sterling I found, pic attached. Any thoughts, or reviews would be helpful.
Regards,
Ian

I worked for Sterling for two years, and have found in most of their cases to be of very good quality. Unfortunately, I can't say that about the particular case you are looking at. At one time, there were some design issues that would prevent me from recommending it. Management at Sterling was aware of the issues, and have hopefully addressed them by now. Since John Barton is overseas working with the manufacturers, I would bet that is the case, but I would want to see the case first hand. I do know that if you purchase a Sterling case and are not happy with it when you get it, they are very good about taking it back.

I have owned that exact case for a couple of years . The only thing that bugged me was trying to use joint protectors ?? The top would not close properly with protectors on the butts ??I don`t remember if the shafts with protectors were a problem or not??? I was real exited when I ordered it !!! But now I feel a little disapointed because it was supposed to be leather and can`t help thinking its good old naughahide ??? I am using a 3 butt 5 shaft right now that is defintely pvc

It's leather.

Thumbs Up

I had a Sterling 3 x 5 for about a year or so and loved it. The one thing that bothered me, although it was a very slight bother, was the butts bumping around in their own separate tube. From what I understand alot of cases have fairly large diameter tubes, which allows the butts to bump around in their own tube.

Other than that I have no complaints about the Sterling.

OH, I sold the case to a friend after I started selling Talisman cases and didnt need it anymore.

The Sterling case is good quality and a good value; however, the Instroke is a better quality, higher end case. If the Instroke is in your budget, I'd go with the Instroke.

Best of luck,

From all the cases I've run across and used, Talisman is one of the top cases in regards to weight, functionality, quality construction, cost, and aesthetics.

I've sold a few around AZ and even more around my hometown and everyone likes them.
