ok i posted last week regarding schon and predator....and i keep doing searches and seeing people recommending various custom cues. Ok keep in mind im in a small town so theres no way for me to go somewhere and try out these cues....im shopping around.....alot on ebay, and here are some cues ive run across that i like the looks of. Also keep in mind i really dont like the fancy cues, i like something close to a sneaky pete, although i prefer some type of joint and a wrap would be ok as well.
Ive found steve klein, jacoby, coker, bludworth, dale perry, mcdaniel, ray schuler, schon black widow, and pechauer.......on ebay right now and they all look like the type of cue i described above, and all are close in price. As far as hit, collectability, playablity, what can you guys tell me or recommend (or recommend againt). Thanks

Yes, I would. Never played with a Mcdaniel or Klein. McD's I thought were more expensive than that. I have seen a few Kleins and they look nice, but I don't know how they play. IMO you can't beat that CK at that price, if you're lookin' at custom sneaky petes.

are there any tournaments within a 50 mile radius? If so i'm sure you can at least find 1 or 2 of each there. I just played a tournament sunday and seen at least 4 or 5 predators and 6 or 8 schons. It's an all around win win situation if you can go to one of those tournaments. You get to meet and converse with the more serious players in the area and try equipment individual willing.

no tournys of any size close by, and aournd here you dont see many custom cues.....ive seen one jacoby and one schon and thats it...the rest are meuccis and a few joss and thats it

yeah i was surprised to see a mcdaniels that cheap......its still early on the bidding though.

I don't know which McD you're referring to, but I'm almost positive it will go for more than 290$ by the time the auction ends. Have you checked www.indyq.com or www.onthehill.net or zim'srack (search AZ for zim)----all good guys to buy cues from and sometimes you can find a hell of a deal.
Hope it helps

Well I will still plug Mikkelsen. You wont be able to hit with the cue but rest assured it will hit like a dream. The hit of a Mikkelsen can be closest described as a Southwest style hit with more feel. I know you did not mention Mikkelesen but you did mention Widow, and the guy who actually builds (or built a while ago at least) Widow cues lost all of his local business to Mikkelsen who is now well represented on the west coast of Canada by ALOT of the top players. The pro tournie going on as we speak has Edwin Montal and Tyler Edey in it, 10 months ago when I left Calgary they were both shooting with Mikkelsen's and I would be surprised if they were not still in the tournie.

Send me a PM if you want more info, his webpage is outdated (although you can get good pics on it of his cues).

I wouldn't hestitate to grab an BCM cue. It's hard for anyone to recommend a cue to you. Everyone has their own preferences and a cue that one person thinks hits good another person may not like. Guess you are just going to have to bite the bullet and take your chances. If I was spending in excess of $400, I would definately go with a custom cue. I've also done business with OTH and he's a great guy to work with and has a nice selection of custom cues.

Chester Krick makes a nice hitting cue, and those SP's on ebay look like great deals. A friend of mine has one of his fancier cues and the thing hits like a rock.
