Alright Guys,

I love my Justis' and my JB's for toting my artwork back and forth to the pool hall. But, if I was going to buy a case to store some high-end cues in the closet, what case would you guys recommend? I've got 2 new cues on order, one player and one for show. So, I've got time to decide on a case. Just wanted to get some opinions.

Check out the case review forum. Several leading brands have been hydrometer tested and Whitten came out favorably.

I have stored my best cues in Whitten cases for years without any warpage. They work well for me.

May I ask for the data on this? When you say favorably do you mean that they came out on top?

What was the criteria, who did the tests, what was the control?

I only ask because I know full well how Whitten cases are made and there is nothing in the construction that is specifically done to keep cues drier than in other cases with similar construction.

I also am in agreement that one cannot really go wrong with a Whitten case for storage. However they are not better than GTF or JB Cases in terms of moisture control in my opinion.

I'd be curious to know what brands were tested and how the testing was done. I am fairly sure that neither GTF nor JB Cases were tested.

Sterling sells a full range of inexpensive cases which are great for storage. Many of them have the same or similar padded interior as the JB Custom Cases we make.

GTF is a choice that a lot of collectors are making. The GTF 2x4 Storage cases lay flat and are easily stackable.

Great protection starts at $50 and goes up according to what material you want around it.
 
Ernie at Ginacue performed the test. Based upon the result (and other criteria I'm sure) he chose to include a Whitten case with every new Ginacue.

I offer you no specific data and I choose not to name those cases that were passed over; I only offer that Ernie took a careful and thoughtful approach to making a selection that would protect the world's finest cues over the long life he planned for them.

If the Whitten product was the choice for every Ginacue, it is the choice I make for my cues. Ernie invented the tube case for cue storage. His opinion is important to me.

As I understand it, Ginacues sent back for any warranty service must be accompanied by their Whitten case. Clearly Ernie has faith in that product's protection of a cue.

Well Ernie certainly is a meticulous person who builds a top cue so his opinion should carry a lot of weight. That said I am quite confident that any case I build is equal to or better than any case Ernie decides to use for delivering cues in.

I just wanted it to be clear that your statement's regarding Ernie's choice are based on a test that the public has no access to. So the comments about "testing against many well known brands and came out favorably" is a little too ambiguous to be taken seriously.

As I said Whitten is a fine case made by fine people. But they are in no way superior to mine on any level whatsoever when it comes to how they protect the pool cue.
 
I just got my new OnQ Storage case from Garth. I couldn't be happier with it. Great customer service, great case.

I will post up pics of it as soon as find my camera that has disappeared.
