Looking to buy a pool table but will have to store it for about a year in my garage. Any worries with doing this, how does a gold crown hold up if it is just covered really well and stored outside?

Itll be fine!!! Just to be on the safe side i would store the rails inside under a bed or something just to be sure they dont go dead.

Storing a pool table outside may present a myriad of problems depending upon your location. Depending on environmental conditions, wood can absorb moisture or dry out, it can expand or contract, etc. I live in the high desert area of California and have seen temperatures of 124 degress in August. Conversely, Florida has many mold problems because of high temperature and humidity. The Northern part of the US has freeze/thaw cycles in the winter. I'd be very careful if I were you about storing your pool table outside. You may want to pose this question, including your location, in the "Talk to a Mechanic" section of this forum. They're the experts. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Stored in your garage is one thing, stored OUTSIDE is another. The garage is fine for years if you want, just make sure you stand the slate on end and not laying flat. Matter of fact, don't lay anything actually flat on the concrete because if it's wood, it'll trap moisture between the concrete and the wood causing swelling in the wood, lay some 2x4's down first.
