On Lee Brett's The Secret Art of Pool he devotes one section to straight in shots. Can someone explain to me why hitting the object ball a little left of center makes this shot or does it? I'm confused. Is he actually spinning the ball in, similar to the method John Brumbeck uses to pocket bank shots?

im not an instructor
but
brumback "spins " balls in to make the angle into the pocket flatter
which makes a "bigger" pocket
straight in is as flat an angle as you can get so it has nothing to do with spin i would guess
i dont have his dvd

Speed will always be a larger variable than spin. That's why Mother Drill 6 is so powerful. It shows what you perceive vs. what you do...and it teaches you to perform under pressure, at variable distances...hitting PERFECT stop shots. Which then progresses to perfect draw shots.
