Straight stroke?

Ok, I hear all the time "wow, so and so has such a straight stroke"! What does that mean? I can take a straight shot, 3-4 diamonds apart,3 diamonds away from the pocket, shoot it 10 times and stop the ball with no spin 9 out of 10 consistently! Do I have a straight stroke? Do I shoot straight?? Just curious to what it means:) thanks

Pay particular attention to the Centerline Stroke Drill. If you can do it 10 to 20 times in a row successfully, (bringing the impacted ball precisely back to your cue tip, your stroke is plenty straight enough no matter what's taking place before your tip impacts the CB (or striped ball in this case, used as a more revelatory, test-purposes surrogate for the CB).

Don't underestimate this CSD as a virtual descriptor of stroke straightness and centerline hit. Steve Davis would unceasingly perform this drill for two hours on end before every snooker tournament. A ritual he maintained for years, saying that of all cue sports disciplines, snooker for obvious reasons, had the highest demand for the straightest of strokes of which the competitor was capable, and this drill -- however arduous, was the single best means of achieving and *confirming* (to specifically address your question) that championship-level of straightness.

SteveDavis actually did the drill at 2, 3 and 4 rail speed not just back to the tip.. he gauged the cueball's path back over the spot.. On the 1 rail speed u can try and hit your tip....... I can do the tip 10 out of 10 after a few minutes of warming up and the 2 rail speed about 8 out of 10 but the harder speeds will definitely show the flaws in your stroke and I'm stuck with 50% on the harder speeds until I have the time to invest......

Flaws in your stroke or stroking straight won't matter unless the balls are going in the pockets, don't think to much just do it. You will know when your obviously doing something right.

Only if you do the same in a match or money game all the time
