Stroke, Stance, and Bridge - A beginners' video guide

I had to create an instructional video for an university class and decided to make a basics of pool video covering the bridge, stance, and stroke of pool.

It's a bit long ( 13mins) and most of the information in the video is unoriginal, but I think the presentation is done in a semi-entertaining, professional, and informative way.

I may continue this series after the class ends, so please let me know what you like and don't like. Feel free to tell me if I am way off base about any of my information or presentation.

Also, feel free to comment on my basics, if you would like :)

Plenty good for your class project. If you want to carry it on to actual instruction though......forget about the balance point. That means nothing. You are right in that your forearm should hang straight down. Where that ends up on the butt of the cue depends on each persons arm span. A real tall person will be way out at the end of the butt.

Also, you should point out the proper head position. Most beginners have their head off to the side of the cue. Also point out hitting center ball, especially for the drills you showed, and how to find center cb easily. Other than that, pretty nice job.

One more thing- noticed your thumb nail is blue. If you haven't already, you should see a doctor about that, it is a sign of insufficient oxygen getting to that area.

What is the class you're taking?

I watched your video and don't want to mention stuff that's unrelated.

The class is an interactive media course. We had to pick a topic and do an instructional video to practice some basic video editing skills. It's not meant to be a professional type work editing wise or production wise. I was more curious about the content and delivery.

Although, if you do have comments on the editing and production that's fine. I know it's not perfect. I did not have access to a proper video editor or camera equipment to do it right.

Thanks for the comments Neil! I appreciate your opinion. I will check into the nail thing.

Your content was good, IMHO, except for chalking. It seems you kinda sluffed it off as just part of your warm-up. I think it needs a little more scrutiny than that.

Also In My Humble Opinion, your delivery needs work. I believe pool players are supposed to be relaxed and smooth. Your delivery was anything but. Your movements and speech were quick and jerky, like you were in a hurry to get each scene over with. Just watching you made me nervous ;)

Overall fine job though. Good luck with it!
