stubborn weight bolt

I've tried removing the weight bolt from my schon & can't even get it to move. I even took it to a local cuemaker & he put it up on the lathe to hold it & tried turning the screwdriver with a wrench...it started turning the cue inside the collet.

are there any tricks to getting stubborn weight bolts out?

Did you buy it used? It might have been rattling, and someone glued it.

Try putting a screwdriver in a vice, then try to remove the weight bolt by turning the cue by hand. If it's been fixed in place with some sort of adhesive, you may want to heat it up a bit with a soldering iron, then try twisting it out. If using heat, be careful not to heat it up so much that it causes the finish to scar or causes problems for the buttcap/rings.

Yea what he said, I have had a couple weight changes that ended up being glued in. In one case, the owner stripped out the threads and that was a mess to get it out.
If you don't have a soldering iron, another way is to take a long screwdriver, vise it with the point upward, then with a small torch, heat the screwdriver then put it into the weight bolt. Heat rises, so it will heat the glue joint.

thanks for the ideas....and yes, it was used when i bought it.

prob is glues in. heat it up with a sodering iron like said before.
only thing i would do different is put a cool wet rag over the buttsleeve to keep the temp down so the finish doesnt bubble off

Try put a screwdriver on it, and hit it once with a hammer. Don't hit it to hard, otherwise you will destroy the butt. It might get the bolt loosen a bit.
