Stupid question, How do you fill out a bracket?

Guess you typoed then lol.

"My bad, your correct. They get rewarded for being 1 & 2 in a seeded format. That's why i used a unseeded format for 16 players and randomly pulled byes first. It prevents any *****ing."

You;re just adding to my confusion lol. I think it's making more sense though

I did use both but after a couple of months and people complaining I found it to run smoother using 16 player( if more than 16 use a 32 player) and picking the byes first and then the players. I found that picking everything out of a hat put's everyone at ease and I didn't have a computer at the venue to print brackets so I preprinted 16 and 32 player as the most players I ever had was 28. It can be confusing trying to explain it correctly.

A 10-man bracket would work with buy-backs and redraw every round ala DCC.

In your case, why fix something that ain't broke?
16 man draw with two seeded players....write in the byes and space them out BEFORE
the draw.
The first seeded player gets the bye in first match...
The second seeded player gets the bye at the bottom of the chart...
...everybody else gets drawn randomly.

Your bracket was correct for a 10-man tourney. Like you said, you would have been better off just putting peoples names down without the numbers. Either way, there were 2 byes, which were preceded by the 2 "preliminary" matches to set up a normal "quarterfinal" bracket, once those winners were determined.

Using the term "bye" for "waiting to play the winner of a preceding match" could be part of the confusion

16 Team Bracket Error

Huh? Thats like 90% of the bracket a little is cut off, my main question was did I start it off right, as in numbering the lines/players 1-10? As for byes there were two #7 and #8.

Neither #7 nor #8 were a bye or received a bye. Bill played Richard and Todd played Chris. You had 12 (not 10) players and there were 6 first round byes in your tournament (which are not shown and not needed to be shown with 12 or fewer players). Since you are really using a 16-player bracket (but NOT the PrintYourBrackets 16 Team chart!), the first round byes went to Luke, Susan, Bill, Todd, Wayne and Bill.

Bottom line is I think you did a good job and ran a fair tournament.

On another note it looks like the 16 Team double elimination bracket from PrintYourBrackets has an error; sending the losers of matches 21 and 22 to the wrong lines. For example, if you used the 16 bracket from PrintYourBrackets (instead of the 10 Team bracket you actually used) Todd goes to the top of the loser's bracket instead of the bottom where he should go. Todd could wind up playing Chris, his first opponent, again in his 3rd match. Curiously, the 10 Team chart does not have this error - it also sends Todd to the top of the losers' bracket but in this case it is the right place because the other matches preceding Todd's come from the top of the winner's bracket (Like and Susan) rather than the bottom (Will and Chris).

The 16 DE chart from playbca.com does not have this error

Bottom line is I think you did a good job and ran a fair tournament, and it might be better to use the charts provided on the BCA site instead.
