I think the original post gave the impression that the luck helped a weaker player keep up with a better player. The thing about luck both good and bad is it always favors the better player. A good player when he gets good rolls becomes a great player. A weak player when he get a good roll often does nothing with it. A good player when he gets a bad roll will deal with it as best he can. A weak player when he gets a bad roll become helpless. It's a fallacy that rolls make any difference at all. although in the sudden death format of a tournament it could make a difference in the short run but don't expect the weaker player to go on to win the tournament based on rolls and gambling it means nothing at all.
