sub rail extentions

I have seen many of you add a wooden shim to subrails to negate the need for rubber shims. THat is what I want to do when I get the dough. My triple shims play poorly. I have yet to find a mechanic locally that has done it.

I am a decent wood worker, think I could fabricate the shims myself.

2 questions--
What type of wood? My guess--oak
How to fasten to subrail? My guess--Brads and glue

Thanks

Most use Mahogany ply or Pouplar wood found at most lumberyards. Cut them oversize and file or carefully belt sand to fit fill in any voids with bondo.

Do a search for sub rail extensions or post by Realkingcobra he has a good set of picture's showing the process, He will be making a complete and I don mean a complete set of videos on everything can be fixed, repaired, or tweaked on pool tables from recovers to custom sized pockets.

Were are you located someone here might be close to you to make sure your doing it right.
