Sugar marks in shafts?

I see posts that talk about sugar spots or marks in shafts. Can someone explain what these are or better yet post some pics because i am clueless as to what these are.

They are thin brown lines or brown stains that are not grain lines. They usually lay on or in between grain lines. They are harmelss and are just a natural part of maple. Some hate it and other it does not bother. Here is a link to some shafts with a few sugar lines in them.

Thanks. I have seen those before just did not know they had a name. Put me down in the hate them group. I just recently bought a Lucasi of which they had two the same model. I liked the butt on one better but it had a shaft with those marks so i switched shafts from the other one that had a perfectly clear shaft.At least now i know the name of what i do not like.
