Sugartree and Barnhart for sale at my cost

I recently bought 3 cues here on AZ, looking for a back-up cue for bars, and also looking for an opportunity to check out what the Sugartree hype is all about. I was very pleased with all three cues, but found my bar cue in a splendid Sherbine linen-wrapped sneaky. I need a wrap on my cue; otherwise I would probably keep one of the following two - the wood on both is too beautiful to spoil with a wrap. Prices are at my cost, which was more than reasonable or I wouldn't have bought them, so if they don't sell for these prices, they go to ebay.

Sugartree Olivewood forearm/Palmwood handle. The cue and review are described in the following thread. The only difference since I received it is that I refurbished the shaft - it still has some blueing, but is much nicer now. Price is $875 + 15 shipping. Paypal add 3%

Barnhart Bacote Sneaky Pete - I have not done a thing to this cue. It was in near-perfect shape when I received it, and still is. This is one of the best-playing cues I've owned - stiff - and I would keep it if I felt I could put a grip on it. Price is $300 + 15 shipping. Paypal add 3%

Clear out your PM'S

Bluegrass for the Pair!

I have a coco BG that might make a great middle relief cue:D

Sorry all - PM's cleared. I wrote down your names in order of the 'inbox full' messages I received, so if any of you offered me asking price for either cue, I'll respond in that order.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to pass - I tried to PM, but your box is full.

LOL - okay, I'll play the AZ seller game.

Sugartree is $1,200

Barnhart is $500

...now, talk me down.

Scott <=== wonders why it works better to advertise a $875 cue at $1,200 and have it talked down to $950, than to just advertise at $875 and sell at $875?

Scott,

It CAN get better. You can state xxx FIRM and a "buyer" offers less.

You politely decline the offer, sell to someone else, and the "buyer" construes your act as having sold the cue out from under him.

Can you imagine how badly what's left of my brain would have been damaged if not for my bullshit deflecter....

Best of luck with your sale, Adam

Hi Adam,

LOL - that DID happen to me as well, twice! I didn't take the low offer, sold to someone else, and in both instances the "offerer" said I sold out from under him "while we were negotiating." AZ is a truly amazing place to try to do business, but it IS another way to connect buyers and sellers, and I am definitely grateful to the guys who run it and get the advertising together that keep it available to us. Hopefully the Main forum will eventually see a turn-around and be what it was 2-3 years ago. A friend suggested a 1-time or annual fee to members, just to weed out the d-bags that gum it up. I think a $50 1-time fee would be great - maybe only for those who want to post a 'for sale' item in this sub-forum.

In any case, most who know me also know that I could care less if any of my cues sell - I used to own 45 and am down to about 9, so I'm fine. I bought the Barnhart as a bar cue, but found the Sherbine which looks "sneakier", so I have no need for the Barnhart.

As far as the Sugartree goes, I never hit with one and no one around here has one - I wanted to know what the hype was all about, and now I know. I have no use for the cue. But I think the hype is just that - hype. That inflated market is for brand-new Sugartrees that can be flipped as unused - this one was used as a player for several years, and while the finish is great and the shaft has been refurbished, it is still used. But it is a great player, so I'll re-tip with a Moori medium, add a wrap, and it's a nice back-up with an exotic but somewhat inconspicuous forearm. Honestly, I love the cue, just need a grip.

Ive only made one trade on here ever, it was with Adam. Very easy, smooth transaction. However, I think Adam sent along a cue bug as well, I cant stop thinking about getting different cues!

It's not a bad bug to have - I have it also, but it's under control :)

The Barnhart is still available.

The Sugartree is NOT available.

Thanks for all the PM's supporting my posts regarding the deceptive selling techniques of the previous Sugartree owner. In previous threads, I questioned the flipping of new Sugartrees, but given all the positive things I had heard about their play and construction, from players who like similar cues to mine, I had to try one. I highly recommend Sugartree cues, without reservation.

The Sugartree has been traded to a friend.

...and the Barnhart is no longer available to anyone unless I've dealt with you in the past, and I won't be reading the forum, so PM me if you want to talk - I play pool and enjoy trying out the cues of different makers, and I'm not out to make a profit off the cues I buy or trade for on AZ. This isn't a job, it's for FUN.

I've simply run out of patience dealing with the nits here who either have no integrity when they sell items, can't honor deals that they make or jump into threads with nothing to add, just to even out old scores.

This is the internet folks - have fun here, but go back out into the real world more often.

Adios
