suggested router with 1/2'' collet?

I currently have one of the Rigid routers but it has the 1/4" collet. Im wanting to cut point grooves ( V grooves ) and all i am finding bit wise is 1/2" shanks.

so i guess my two questions here would be:

1. do they make the 90deg V groove router bits in a 1/4" shank that are big enough to cut point slots?

2. ( If not ) what routers top the list with a 1/2" collet?

Having the bigger router would also open up doing all the bigger turning of the squares/round, so that would be a big benefit as well.

Thanks for the help. Im trying to decide what im getting so i know what specs to send tom for an adapter.
 
To answer your question, yes they do have v-groove bits in 1/4" that will cut the grooves for points. Chris Hightower should be able to set you up.
 
Many woodworking supply stores on the 'net sell the 90 degree cutters with a 1/4 in. shank. It is usually offered as a 2 piece combo but you only need the bit that cuts the 90 deg. slot. You get both for the same price.

I have seen them listed as reasonable as 39.95 for the set.

There are two types of V-bits for routers. Those that cut straight into the workpiece and those that cut into the side. Those that cut into the side are much more efficient and are the ones that should be used. Coming straight down from the top has the router bit's nose scraping the bottom of the billet instead of actually cutting.

What I'm finding in the sets is that the v groove cutter has a 1/2" shank.
