I went to DCC on Sunday and enjoyed the pool melee as usual. I even bought a t shirt, which is nicely done IMO. But after I got home and looked at it, it occurred to me that no one outside of pool would know what the event even is. It says "Derby City Classic", has the word "diamond" boldly displayed along the bottom, and has the image of a horseshoe on it and some other stylings.
But no where is there any indication that this event pertains to cue sports of any kind. I don't think that pool is high profile enough to demure in such fashion. I think that it needs to blatantly say the words "Billiards Tournament" and/or have an image of a cue or pool cue or some such related paraphanalia.
As it is,most lay people (which pretty much include everyone in northmerica and beyond) may be inclined to think that I am advertising a horse race or perhaps a poker tournament when I really just want to give the DCC its proppers and help get the word out about the event and pool in general.
Just something to consider.
