suggestions for one cue(playing and break jump)

For personal reasons i want to carry 1 cue.Actually get a new one.What are yours least standarts for a cue that is going to break and play?Quality,type of ferrule, tip,joint etc for a long life investment?(thinking to get a Schon cue)
 
Put a kamui black hard on whatever cue and your good to go. Just switched over to that tip and it plays fantastic. Can get pretty solid breaks with it too.
 
Have it custom made

I had a jump break cue custom made by Carmeli, with two shafts, one for jumping and breaking, and one for playing. This way I could jump, break and play...all with 1 cue, 2 shafts. Truth is any j/b cue would work with a hard tip on it-

Too bad everytime you unscrew and change shafts you lose:eek:!

My buddy wanted to look at my cue the other day and then he started talking to someone (with my cue), so I grabbed his Gilbert jump/break and started hitting some balls. It played excellent!! I wasn't missing anything. I was thinking--I should play with that cue.

You can learn how to do anything with one cue, I do recommend a custom and also at least a medium hard tip.

I break, play, and sometimes jump with mine, it also mini masse's pretty well. This all will come down to feeling comfortable with that cue you choose to use and developing the right stroke for the cue to cooperate and execute what your trying to achieve.
