Suggestions for shaft for Meucci

I do know that a Player's will work (as you stated), but I can't think of any other new shafts for that price. I have an OB-1 and love it, but it's almost double the price.
meucci uses a 5/16X18 flate faced joint. viking looks like the closest in the price range your looking for.

Though you can order higher end spliced shafts with pretty much any joint, keep in mind generally when you buy a shaft, it will generally have a black collar or black with silver ring collar and meuci cues tend to have those fancied up shaft collars.
He might just be better off going to a local cue maker to have one custom cut and fitted or purchasing a blank tiger-x, ob-1 or 314 or something and then having the ringwork matched through meucci repair or something.
Since if he'll want it to match flush to the butt it will prolly need to be sanded down anyway, asuming he's lucky enough to get a shaft with a larger joint diameter than the butt as opposed to a smaller since joint diameters tend to vary from cue to cue.
I have 2 meuccis, a joss and an excaliber and not one of them has the same joint diameter, they range from .840" to .880" and typically i belive most extra shafts ship out around .860" with collars and blanks are around .870" to .880"

Closest thing I can think of would be a $90 viking shaft. It requires a little work though; you will have to cut deeper thread grooves in the brass insert with a 5/16-18 tap. You also get a choice of shaft diameter when you order new.
The Players cue shaft will work. I put one of my Players shaft on his butt and the threaded fine (same size thread), but the connection wasn't exactly even. The Players was a tab bit bigger around than the Meucci.
I thought there maybe something else out there, but I guess not. I may let him have the Players shaft and sand it down to fit perfectly. That would be the cheapest route since the entire Players cue only cost about $40.

I have to agree with Socks, one of the best routes here would be to take the cue to a local custom cue maker and have him or her make a perfect matching shaft. A good custom shaft can sometimes start at $80. It should be pretty close to $100 or maybe under assuming the cue doesn't have any fancy ringwork.

Jacoby makes shafts for all brands. Very reasonably priced.
