Super Billiards Expo #2, What's Going On All?

Every time Kenny has tried to talk to get me to bet, or sidebet or even when he's just in the room, 9 times out of 10 i end up yelling at him and tell him to get out of my face.

If i try to be polite, it doesn't work.
Only after the voice gets loud, and i tell him to shut up and get out of my face, does he leave me alone.

What he did to Cosmo might be Shady, but i still know the all time #1 Shady move in expo history, at least the ones that i've been witness to.

The VICTIM was Trenton Marty.

Marty saw there was a possible questionable hit on a potential shot, so Marty suggested that they get the REF to avoid any dispute about the hit/shot. So the other guy studied the shot, and then told Marty that he wasn't going to shoot it, and was instead going to play safe where there would be no question about the call. So in light of this, Marty sat back down, and watched as the guy shot the ball in the ORIGINAL WAY, blatantly fouling in the process, but making the object ball.
So when Marty got up and told the guy foul, the guy replied, "the call goes to the shooter. If you wanted someone to watch the shot, you should have called the ref over, those are the rules. I thought it was a good hit."
How Marty didn't totally destroy this guy on the spot i have no idea. He went on to play, but he was livid, and his game went down the drain, and he ended up losing the match.
The opponent, went on to place high, and receive congratulations from everyone that knew him for his effort.

When someone pointed out the fact that he fouled, he replied that the ref didn't call it a foul cause the ref wasn't there, and that HE thought it was good.

I talk to the guy repeatedly when i see him as he is nice enough, but he is a total crumb in pool as far as i am concerned, and can never be trusted.

I remember this incident! Marty came up to the desk afterwards, but didn't *complain* per se, just told me about a "lesson learned".

I love Marty! He was my first coach and taught me a lot of good stuff!

Lesson Learned: Once you have a sitaution where the shooter wants to look/try "both ways", stop him and get a ref. If he objects, then you know you REALLY NEED A REF!

SBE2 - Misnamed :-)

The event was smaller - we knew that going in - the traffic was much lighter - knew that too. It was cozy. But not much more than your average state tournament.

I advised Dawn to brand it as something other than "The Super Billiards..." so as to not dilute the great and original Super Billiards Expo.

Business was slow so I rented a table for the booth and ran break contests all day Saturday. That was fun!!!!

Russian Kenny comes over and gets in one and starts heckling all the players. He gets 3 balls in 3 breaks. A very drunk player after him gets a 4 and THAT holds up to win the contest. Kenny proceeds to bark at the guy who won and while he is woofing someone else butts in and takes the guy to a table and beats him out of $450.

I proceeded to get to a very happy place thanks to many, many Bud Lights and many friends who kept handing them to me. Kenny made his way back to the booth to bark at me after the contests had all dried up and we entertained the crowd with our barkfest for a while. I TRIED real hard to get my nose open and lose 1500 by playing the kid Kenny was running around with. Luckily for me though I had given the bankroll to my roommate and he was nowhere to be found when my drunk ass wanted to post. Found out the next day he was two feet away from me talking to another vendor while I ran around the hotel looking for him.

I gave Kenny a little bobblehead dog holding a pool cue as the "action/entertainment" prize of the event. Interpret that as you will.

Otherwise I had a GREAT time hanging out with my friends, Bobby, Timberly, Allen Hopkins Jr., Megan, Morgan, Linda, Rory, Danielle, and Deadstroke!!! You guys and girls totally rock!!!

I played in a couple minis and took second twice. Wow! I lucked my into the finals of both and got outplayed in both. Not bad for a once-a-month player though.

All in all - a nice easy event. I can see it growing to be something worth making a long trip for. I doubt it'll reach the scale of the March show but I can remember when the March show was on one floor. :-)

Take care every one.

John
