Well it's a last minute trip I'm putting together. I wasn't going to go because I'm playing in vegas but damn if I can stay away from the place lol! I took notice that the sign ups are really down! Only about 350 signed up with only a few weeks left. I still say it will end up in the 7 to 800 range. Does anyone think the new location in jersey is hurting things? I didn't mind the location. I didn't like the pro arena being free and out in the open. I liked the dark quite pro room in the past and the money tables didn't have as much room to woof but it was a hell of a lot better then the first place it went to after valley forge turned into a casino that's for sure. Being honest you could put the damn thing in and old barn surrounded by live stock and you still couldn't keep me away lol

Pool players always wait until the last minute. There isn't an incentive for early sign-ups. If you check past years threads, its been like this irregardless of the venue.

your right it just seemed even lower then normal. I think last year they were at over 500 at this time and we were saying the same thing.

For the naysayers, last year's event filled the convention center's parking lot. People were even parking on the side of roads and grassy fields, something I never seen at the previous locations.

Now, if you're trying to book a hotel\motel room then perhaps we could try to help each other by making local recommendations.

I'm not a naysayer.. I found a hotel with no problem. I love the event. Do I miss the original expo center.. sure it was a great set up and it was an hour closer lol where ever it's held It's still pool player heaven

just checked the pro am..that only has 8 players but thats definitely about the norm. That always gets a lot of late sign up.

I was stuck out on the road all three days I was there and I got there early. Not early enough, I guess.

My first time last year, so can't comment about the differences, but I had a great time and I wasn't even playing. I'll be there this year.

As far as helping with places to stay, I'll be staying at the Red Roof Inn just down the road. I used the AZ discount code Scott Lee turned me on to and saved 20%. It was like $68 or so IIRC. Still rooms as of yesterday. I'd share, but I'm going with the wife.

I think saturday and sunday I couldn't find a spot in the parking lot..no big deal though. It wasn't that far of a walk.

No, it was easy because of how the road lies compared to the center. I think the comments about the PL being overfilled were meant to indicate that the event was well attended. I hope it's even harder to park this year, which simply means more pool players. That's always a good sign for a struggling industry.

Remember we couldnt find a spot so I parked my truck up over the curb, beside the pole with the cable...,,, lol

Somehow this reminds me of my favorite parking story.

Me and a few buddies heard there was a smoking hot band playing down in Woodstock, so we piled into my friend's CJ-7 and headed down there. When we got there we found the place was at the end of a long dirt road that had been plowed pretty narrow. The parking lot was plowed even worse and packed. We couldn't squeeze in anywhere. My buddy says, "Hang on!" and floors it right toward a huge snowbank piled against a big tree and goes right up it.

We jump out and realize his ass end is still hanging out a few feet into the road, blocking cars from coming in or out. So he climbs up the bank, lets out about 10' of cable from his winch, wraps in around a branch and winches the thing up out of the way.

Funniest thing was coming out piss-drunk and watching him try to climb back in the Jeep and let himself down. I think he finally got ahold of the steering wheel and dragged himself up. You had to be there, it was a riot.
