Superbilliard Expo Amateur Payouts --very confused about the $$

Thanks for posting. I wasnt trying to start up controversy as much as trying to figure out whether its worth it to go. The payout structure made me very confused, it seemed like Hopkins was the only big winner. Thank you for taking the time to fill me in on some elements to the final equation I clearly wasnt seeing.

I still would like to see the payouts if anyone has them.
For those interested, we had already added up and confirmed that Allen's payouts were consistent with the $50 + $25 math. This is what I remember.

1 -$5000
2 -$2000
3/4 $1500
5/8 $1000
9/16 $595
17/32 $500
33/64 $440

If you add it all up, it came to right over 40K and we calculated the number of players with some quick math of 29 sheets of 28 players plus sheet thirty was like 8 or ten players, and a few sheets had double lines used for one player. It came to right over 800+ players.

800+ * $50 = $40000+
p.s Allen said that he made the 9-16 payouts $595 so no tax forms would have to be filled out for us. I think that if that is true to tax law, that was a thoughtful gesture to save everyone some trouble.

p.s. Barb and Colleen, good seeing you guys and thanks for all your help this weekend keeping me in line with my times.

I love you SWEETIE Bracket Winner YOU!!!

Yeah, that was a nice touch not having to do that tax form for a $600 payout.

I don't play in the events so I don't pay much attention to the payouts but last yr I was looking at the pro tourney chart and one of the players was standing there figuring out the payouts.... They commented how impressed they were with the fact Allen paid out 100% of the entry fees.

If the payout for 1st place is $5000 every yr, why don't you base your decision on whether $5000 is worth your trip or not? Honestly, it's their tournament and they can do the payouts as they see fit. They payout is $5000 for 1st regardless... I don't understand why it matters if that includes all the entry fees or not... it's the same amount of money no matter where it comes from.
