Years ago, Dennis Dieckman used to call me about supporting junior and female players. There are many ways to promote this beautiful game. And many people are still doing things in their own way, in my opinion, get more junior player to the tournaments would be the top priority. We need new players especially juniors. I remember he brought two junior players from Florida to NYC, made it happen to have a wemen's tournament.
Those days Dennis did the role of getting funds and finding juniors, I never hesitated at all.
Whatever I can afford, just sent him. Now he is focusing the other matters. So I decided to take his role.
I met this kid at SBE 2013, and this year again. Brilliant, talented and with the ability of concentration, he is going forward fast. Now he is playing at Breaker's in Pittsburgh, PA, the owner of the room is Paul Mottey, the legendary cuemaker.
I am trying to help him play at Verhoeven Open in Carom Cafe in mid July. Already secured a spot with Mike Kang. The goal of funding is $735, $235 for entry fee and $500 for 7 nights of motel. I got Dennis' pledge of $100 and mine too.
I don;t have other way of getting money than checks by mail as of today. Will find ways later to make this a long run.
The amount is not important, let's just start a new way to promote 3-C in America.

I believe people can Donate also thru USBA and specified this money go to you [ Yura ] or to Luca Tomassetti, If you both are USBA members. Remember this coming from #1 Non USBA Member.

I will pledge $100 to Yura for this to Happen, if the donation can go thru USBA, as mention above. Waiting for a reply.
 
Yes, Bob, anyone can make a donation to the USBA and specify where it goes.

On the usba site (www.usba.net), on the right side there is a "Donate to USBA" button. After clicking the button, enter the amount of the donation and then click "Donate" to pay by credit card or Paypal.

Wouldn't Luca Tomassetti,need to Have USBA Membership or Pay Non Membership player fee to play in this Tournament?

Whatever the way goes, I appreciate all donations from 3-C players. I am not a USBA member but Luca is. This money goes to Mike Kang, for entry fee and accommodations.
So there is no difference whether money goes thru USBA or thru me.

I am still working to make Paypal account because this is not one time event. I spread the words out everywhere to find young players. Eventually to the female players like Dennis did years ago, just doing things that I can do as of now.

Like I posted by July 10th I will send emails to all the people who donate. It will show who and how much. Not open to public.

One Question... what the deadline date for receiving checks?

May I say... I personally have not met Yura, but Have heard great things about him. From People like D. Dieckman, T. Paley, and P. Frankel just to mention names. Let not forget the after hours 3c tournament Yura did at the 2014 SBE in NJ.

I will take donations till July 10th. After that I will send emails to all the people who donates about the details, like who and how much.
Yes, I will have the same tournament next year at SBE 2015. Already talking with Mr. Paul Frankel and Mr. Tom Paley. So far, we draw the attentions from pool players.
 
I'm hoping there's a huge response to this as in too much money sent to support your effort.

If this should happen, any chance Luca could attend Mazin's clinic with Dick Jaspers? He'd go
into the Verhoeven better armed.

3kushn... Wouldn't it be better... if USBA or Carom Cafe held a Free after hours 3C Junior Clinc after each tournament day, if time allow and players are willing to give their time Free, [specially USBA National Champions past and present].

Three-cushion players Jim Shovak, Brian Haff, Thang Lé, Tom Rossman, Ellis Lawrence, Tony Ferrara, Victor Cuzzi, Carlos Hallon, Mercedes Gonzales, Rigoberto Cuevas and Michael Kang took on challenger after challenger. Laughter and applause filled the room with each shot.

Perhaps the highlight of the event came on the second night, when a young pool player -- just 9 years old -- stepped up to the table. With Michael Kang's help, Luca Tomassetti of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, proved to be a sure shot. Kang was greatly impressed with the youngster's technique and skill level. "He has a great stroke," Kang said repeatedly as Luca followed Kang's advice perfectly. "How old are you," Kang also asked, convinced that the child was much older because of his highly-developed technique. "Hit half a ball with two tips of English and drive the object ball to the long rail," Kang explained in one shot. When Luca did exactly as Kang said, Kang exclaimed. "I wish I could hit them that way." As the kid made each shot, the crowd erupted in applause. After the game, Kang, the owner of Carom Café in New York and a veteran player who has represented the United States in international competition, marveled at Luca's skills. "I hope he picks up the game," Kang said, smiling with the thought of the boy's future in the carom game.

That would be better but its up to Mr. Kang and the players. I have to assume that the schedule is long and tight. But the sort of thing that happened 2 years ago took on a life of its own once Luca got his chance at the table.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if one or several of the player take Luca aside for a few pointers. He's represents the future of the game,.... In Spades.
