I have a question for the AZ crowd. I've been a high C to low B rated player due to lack of consistent practice for pretty much my entire life. Recently I've made a slight change (probably not even a change at all) which consists of telling myself to align my dominate eye (left) over the shaft of the cue while shooting. I know I haven't adjusted anything, just told myself I have. I rarely run racks, but since I've told myself I've made this eye/shaft change I've started playing the ghost (which I thought I wouldn't have a chance in hell). I'm up 4-3 and last week I made what I would boldly state are the 2 shots of the year (for any player) in my local poolhall. Layouts seem easy, I'm not taking the easiest shots on the table; which would be a no-brainer before, and feel my normal practice partners (buddies at the hall) are no challenge and seem boring (don't take this as a cocky shithead sorta way).

I haven't adjusted my stance or anything else for that matter. I just told myself that my left eye is over the shaft when I shoot (left handed shooter) and mysteriously the game got easier and fell into place.

God I love this game!

Did you know you've only got one greenie after 24 posts? I'll give you another and we'll see if that helps.
As to your post. You are most likely brimming with confidence from trying something new. It will go away before too much longer and you'll be back to pretty much where you were before. Don't worry though, it has happened to all of us.
You didn't say how old you were, or how long you have been playing, or how old you were when you started, but if you play regularly, using sound fundamentals, you should reach the top of your game. Whether it will be as an A player is difficult to determine.

Congrats on the success!

Unfortunately, what Tramp says has a lot of truth to it; "revelations" begin to wear off over time. I don't know if it's because we begin to take them for granted, or we've upped our game and are looking for the next big improvement, or whatever.

But you've clearly focused in on one of your primary fundamentals and that can only help your game.

Not sure what a "greenie" is, my apologies. I've been shooting for 10 years, I'm 42 yrs/old and had long breaks between. I've shot actively in league for the last 3 years and maintained a sl6 in 9-ball, but recently switched to NAPA where I'm holding down a mid-70's in 8-9-10ball. I'm not sure if the sudden jump in skills/confidence will fade, I hope not. Now that I looked back, it all started when I handedly beat (2) 100+ skill level players in one night (4-2, 5-2 respectively).

Greenies are those little green boxes under your name. You're good to go, now.
I didn't mean you should allow your confidence to fade. Always maintain a high level of that.
What I meant was that sometimes streaks come and go. Keep doing what you're doing and I suspect you'll be fine. :)
