Absolutely nothing is wrong with the game, and winner breaks. In fact, I think 5 inch pockets should be the norm.

I think the format's great. But a little longer race would be good. But probably not possible because its not pleasing for the majority of the viewers.

A race is NOT determined by the speed of play! A race is the first person to complete a set course. lighting speed or as slow as I gets. In pool some decide to play very quick while his opponent decides to play methodical and at a slow pace. This occurs in all of pool regardless of the game and could be argued for all sports.

Congratulations to Shane Van Boening winning this tournament like the shot making machine he is. I paid my $6.95 and was entertained to a very fast paced exhibition of unbelievable breaking skill and deadly shot making by both players! Thanks to Barry and all involved for keeping this tradition going over so many years.

If it was alternating break I believe Shane still would have won. He broke and ran 8 or 9 racks out of 13...which is unbelievable under this type of pressure.

When Dennis started making the wing ball I fully believe he had a chance of catching back up and that added some excitement to the match.

The problem with alternating break is that it is difficult to come from behind. I had it happen to myself a couple of months ago. I was in a handicap match where I had to go to 7 and my opponent to 4. I made a couple of mistakes early and found myself down 3-2. I broke and ran all three of my final breaks but ended up losing the match 6-4 when my opponent broke and ran the last rack.

I believe the number one reason the best players don't play in handicapped tournaments is because they have alternating breaks as well.

In hindsight, Dennis would have been wise to play safe on that 1 ball instead of trying a low percentage jump shot when it was 9-7
