May I ask for comments and opinions on the plastic templates laid on the table instead of using a traditional rack? Been out of the game for a while and these templates are new to me? It appeared the templates where also numbered to ensure the same rack config for each break?
The downside I noticed was that the template did seem to effect the roll of slower moving balls as they rested after the break. It also appeared to be a PIA to remove the template often requiring moving of balls, especially during the 8-Ball matches.

The template is a much quicker way to rack to get the balls without any gaps in between, and guarantees that it's a good rack every time. As you said, downside is that it must be taken of the table but most of the time that's no hassle. Slow rolling balls can change path, but that is also quite rare.
