Switch hitting on finals day.

I agree. And thus the LO could have ruled this as "sandbagging" and just DQ'd him, would have been the right thing to do.

I think DQing the team not just the player would not be a bad move. I don't see any situation in which a player would hide from his team that he is not left handed or lie about the reason he was doing it. The only situation that I would let the team off the hook is if they did not know that player, he never told them he right handed and he just happened to want to play lefty for fun without the team knowing and they did not know he would switch at the end. I would think the chances of proving any of those to the league would be 0.

Why does everyone always want to run to the league director?

Just break the guy's right arm and say "let's play!"

Most handicap leagues have rules about excessive movement of skill levels in a tournament or in the league final tournament. Has your league director addressed what happened with the rest of the league? I imagine there were several unhappy folks that had played this person

I agree with everything that has been posted. Especially with the point of turning up to league for at least 8 nights (to qualify) to play as bad as you can. How boring.

I can’t really fault the league operator, other than taking the incredibly hard stance of disqualifying the team on the spot.

He was made aware of the sandbagging 2 games into the players 7. He stopped the match, took the score sheets and made some phone calls. He graded the player a 6 from the matches he had observed and informed the teams, with the grading taking effect from the start of the match.

After winning that first match in a tight one, The team in question then sat the switch hitter out for the remaining 4 or so matches but I guess by this stage the damage had been done.

It wasn’t until later in the day when the league operator found out that he had been playing left handed during the season. By that stage

And the point that hurts the most, the captain of their team drives a Maserati. Could pay for the whole team to go to Vegas 1st class.

So, this team still ended up in the top end of the league with a guy who shot like crap all session ??

How does the end of year format work. If you finish in last during our session, there is NO way you can win... you play the team next to you (knock down round) thus, only a team as low as 4 could possibly jump to first if they kick ass (and were very close to the three teams ahead of them) and the first and second place teams beat up each other.

Even then, it's only happened once or twice over 10 years....

The finals is a staggered draw for the top 24 teams (out of 60 or so i think) state wide with your ladder position determining how many matches you need to win to progress to the final 8.

come 24th and you have a lot of games to win. come 4th and you need to win one match to make the last day of finals. Its double elimination until the last day of finals.

So, this team has carried their player during the season to qualify in the top 24.

Reminds me of a joke. What's the difference between a porcupine and a Maserati? On a porcupine, the *****s are on the outside.
