Can anyone pass on the process to get a Gus cue verified by Barry, what's the timeframe (is there a wait list), approx cost for verification only (without a refinish).

Thanks

It costs $400 and the earliest they will look at it is May. Katherine might respond to your email. There is a really knowledgeable guy named Mark at Pool Table Magic in CT. He does the same type of validation and has owned over 400 Szambotti cues.

APPROX $$ 200.00 last time I checked.
BARRY SZAMBOTI ...
One of the VERY BEST I HAVE MET IN THE CUE BUSINESS ;)

You could probably post pictures here on AZB. There are a lot of knowledgeable people that have collected and owned Szamboti's over the years.

Take good clean and clear pictures of the point work, joint and joint pin, wrap, under the bumper, and, ring work. It would not hurt to include good pictures of the shafts as well along with the bumper. These will at least give you a good shot at a positive ID of the cue.

Of course if you need the letter, send it to Barry. It would be nice beforehand to have a good indication of the cue's authenticity before sending it out and paying a few hundred to find out it is not real.

I hope the cue comes back as being legit and you have a gem on your hands.

No one should buy a Gus Szamboti without an inspection receipt from Barry. No one should buy a Balabuska without an inspetion receipt from Pete Tascarella. These facts are hard to dispute.
