I like the TAP league in Austin.
I have won more money in TAP than any other league.
I have won peanuts in APA and BCAPL.
My TAP winnings (Singles 8 ball & 3man team 9 ball) is over $500, which paid for all of my league spending for 2010 and then some. In 2010, I was playing BCAPL, TAP team 8ball, TAP Singles 8/9, TAP 3man team 9 ball.

For 2011, I will continue to play BCAPL and TAP team 8ball. I don't expect to win any money this year from league. So, I plan to venture into cheap match ups and possibly play tournaments with the goal to break even on spending.

I am waiting for the TAP 10 ball, one-pocket, etc..
If I can manage my schedule to play in TAP singles, I can definitely be profitable for 2011.

I have never been profitable for BCAPL or APA. For me, it's not about making money. The money is more of a measurement of success. If I can be profitable for the year, then I think that is amazing. I think breaking even on expenses is a damn good achievement, and that was my goal for 2010. If I had the time/availability, I would play only TAP, at this time.

i agree with okinawa 77. tap is where the money is at. when i first started playing in a league 4 years ago it was bca or tap in my area. i never got any money in bca even tho we came in 2nd twice. our tap team got 1200.00 once and 1600.00 once. i had an injury and quit playing for 2 years. just started back plaing last july. now its apa and tap here. again i am playing both. our tap team got 400.00 for 4 th place. in apa we have come in 2 nd in league twice, won tri cup, have got nothing. i won the top gun tourny and got 40.00 and qualified for the regionals. not sure if i am going yet. heard its not paying anything except a trip to vegas for 1 st place.

tap is better than apa, but bca is probably the best.

I agree with respect to the Austin, TX area.
BCApl, here, has the stronger players, but the 2 sessions a year...kind of stinks.
TAP has quick sessions with more opportunities to win money/trips to Nationals.

JMHO

I am actually a league rep for TAP. Best part is the call your pocket instead of slop. Way more money to be made and Nationals trips are easier to get too like previous post. The huge thing about TAP is the dream team event and singles events at the Super Billiards Expo. That alone makes playing TAP awesome.

I thought TAP was ok when I played it. Any league will depend on the LO.

TAP's payout structure here was similar to the APA here if they were both the same size, TAP being smaller of course doesn't have the larger pot the APA does currently.

I like the TAP 8Ball rules "No Slop" vs the APA's. Their Rally in the Valley at SBE was "ok" could have been run much better but still good.

I thought from what I saw at the Rally our local 8Ball handicaps were fair compared to the others I saw. Which the league I played in was a small league playing the same teams several times a session using a calculation formula from score sheets I think has big varience from league sizes and competition in the area. So fair 8Ball HC system from my short time & opinion.

Now 9Ball. I prefer real 9ball like TAP's, "9 wins rack". However I thought the 9ball handicap system in TAP was terrible. It far underrates players due to the 9 being made out of turn & likely doesn't calculate it. AND being that a league is suppose to be for entertainment 1st the matches go fast for the fee where as APA 9Ball with the ball per point system I definatly say is more pool for your fee.

I never played TAP or APA long. I haven't played in a BCAPL or ACS league to comment on either of those. I would play TAP again for sure if the right opportunity presented itself, or any of the other leagues for that matter. Hope that helps from what I have seen.

* Don't blame the league, blame the LO. ;)
