Table dots?

Once again, thanks to everyone for their kind replies to my initial question about pocket sizes.

I have one more question that begs a definitive answer. This will surely indicate my level of (in)experience but I really can run 5 or 6 balls... honest!

How does one determine the correct placement of those little marker dots for pool AND snooker? I have no intension of using them lick-and-stick annoyances, but a sharpie and a steady hand will be deployed instead.

I would like to set up my 9' for any type of game and I have balls for both games. Is there an on-line reference or accepted rule of thumb for this?

Believe me that I feel stupid asking this but I have noticed several different patterns on other tables with regards to "dot" placement vs. rail diamonds? Have I finally lost my mind? Have I finally lost my mind?

Thanks in advance for clarification and regrets for those presently rolling their eyes.

Middle diamond on the side rails, middle diamond on the head rail.

Yep, pool spots are easy.

I stole this picture (from http://www.snookergames.co.uk/qanda17.html) for an answer to the Snooker question. Blue spot and pink spot are in line with the diamonds. And remember, Google is your friend.

Lora Ann,

Use care doing the arc for the D. Maybe your mech will have the layout when he comes. You might also want to wait a week or so to make sure the cloth stays tight.

Hi I covor a lot of tables and the way i get the dot in place is this. Take a string, tape it to the top center diamond on the end rail.(Break end) Strecth it to the bottom rail and tape it to the center diamond there. Then run a string across the center diaonds on the long rails. Where they conect in the center of the table is where the spot goes. Hope this helps, Thanks Doug
