man...I should be happy with our rates in erie,PA then. no wonder I question why a cue-maker charges more than I'm used to. our hourly rates for 1 player are $3.50 at most. I'll NEVER question pricing again after reading this. just not something I'm used to

They are still cheap Duke

National Average for playing time is $7.25 /hour for the first player on a table according to literature I got from the BCA. A friend of mine just moved here from Boston. He was used to paying anywhere from $7.00/hour up to $18.00/hour on Weekend nights. So he thinks we are having a fire sale charging $3.60 hour as our top rate. You cannot make money on a table charging less that $7.00/hour. Thats just economic reality. Most places IF they do are just trying to make it up in alcohol sales or doing it as a perk for regulars. You make all your money off 4 kids on ONE table playing all night missing every shot. You get 6 tables like that going and you can finally pay the bills! Yes, Duke, you got it cheap for $3.50/hour. They are not making money on your pool time. That's for sure. Hope you drink a lot! :D

no, I quit drinking for obvious reasons, but they DO have a bar connected to them. that must be how they are doing it. this city has few jobs, and less that pay decently...that I'm sure has some effect. I do a "skilled" job driving forklift at Bush Industries, and don't make much myself. hell, our Q.A.'s make more than we do  ( I've done that too) but got "redeployed" back to driving lift due to slow times I guess. it's ok, Q.A. is boring anyways

The Pool Room I will give props to for having good food. I jad the NY Strip steak dinner the other night where it is $14 plus drink. It was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. It didn't even need steak sauce. The fries are also the best.

The Diamond table is awesome too. Very tight. I miss when that was half off for a single rate. But supply and demand beckons.

I do enjoy the single rates. Back when my options for a good pool hall was "Atlanta Billiards", Cues2, and Murphy's Brass Rails it sucked having to pay normally a minimum of $8 an hour by yourself. After 6 or so hours of playing it got expensive. Which being 16 at the time with no job my parents hated that.

I believe at Jillian's in Discover Mills Mall (Not too far from The Pool Room) their table rates are $20+ an hour.

Where I live I pay an Annual Recreation fee of a little more than $200.00/YEAR. As much Pool as I play it works out too only Pennies/Hour....

$60 a month here for the "players card" which is all the pool you want to play, but only if your playing by yourself, which we are trying to get them to bump it up to $75-80 a month and make it so you can play with 1-2 others or even just other card holders.

Our rates are $2.20 an hour before 8pm and then $4.20 an hour after that for a single, two people is $6.60 an hour after 8pm and $3.30 before that.

Here are a few places I enjoy.

Northern VA: First Break, in Sterling, free pool from 11am-7pm if you buy $8 in food/drink. Tuesday nights from 10pm-2am, $6 flat fee. Very tough 9 ball tournament there too, on Thursdays I think, with 4 or 5 pros playing frequently.

Northern VA: Fast Eddies, in Fairfax, free pool every day from 11am-5pm if you by $8 in food/drink.

Chicagoland: Chris's Billiards (where else?) $2.75/hr until 6PM, then 3 something per hour (one player, of course), weekends are $.50 hour more.

Chicago Billiard Cafe: weekdays: noon to 5PM for $5 flat rate, 3PM-8PM for $7 flat rate, weekends: noon to 6PM for $10 flat rate.

Cue-Phoria in River Grove: FREE POOL both Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Billiard Cafe and Cue-Phoria have pretty good food too, and Cue-Phoria has a full liquor licence.

All are nice places to play.

There are others, but for those who love to play for long stretches without breaking the bank, these kinds of places are nice to go to.

And in Dayton, OH, Airport Billiards is something like $3.50 an hour, with good food and a full bar. Plus the toughest $5 nine-ball tournament on Mondays in the country. Double elimination, winners side is race to 3, losers race to 2. How many players show up? 60-90, including Jason Miller quite often.

That's a great deal, just 25 miles away, while the others are 5-6 miles from me.

What's the room like?

I think ;) it's 3 dollars per hour per person at one place I play and I have no idea what it is at Fiddle Stix in Canton but I think you can play from 11:00am till 5:00pm for like 5 bucks or a dollar an hour whatever it is it's cheap...At nite the price goes way up but the place is packed and the equipment is great.
