Table Rates

I just opened my room in Eureka, Ca (Broadway Billiards) and was wondering what other room owners charge for table time. Here are my rates:
1 player - $5 per hour
2 players - $9 per hour ($4.50 ea.)
3 players - $12 per hour ($4.00 ea.)
4 players - $14 per hour ($3.50 ea.)

Also I offer, avid shooters a 30 Day Pool Pass for $60 ($2.00 per day)

I wouldn't have any problem paying that if the place is clean and the tables are in good shape.People being what they are today, might be hard to get 60 bux from them at once but that would be ok too.
Best of luck to you.

It depends on your location. In places where rent is low your prices are very reasonable. In NJ or NY where rent is high people have to realize that higher costs mean higher rates. Too many people don't understand this.

Congratulations, and good luck with your room! Does the pool pass allow unlimited play? Just curious. Our prices are $4.00/hr for 1 player, and $8.00per hour for any more than 1 player. We also have other specials including a lunch time deal, a happy hour everyday (4pm-6pm), and 2 monthly passes which are $75/month for up to 4 hours a day, and $125/month for unlimited play. I've been here 25 years, and I swear I can't figure out if I should do the monthly pass or not. A search of this topic here will give you a bunch more info. Best of luck to you.

Although I do not own a pool hall, as a regular at several local pool halls around me, I might be able to help give you a view from the customers perspective. There are 4 pool halls in my area. The best and closest to me is $5/hr $8 for 2 people. Good price and cannot complain. The other two are the same prices but not as nice so I rarely ever go to them. The other one is $4/hr and $6 for 2 people. However before 5pm, it is only $3/hr and $5 for 2 people. It is a decent pool hall although not as nice as the first I mentioned. But for such a low price, they get lots of business.

So it depends on if you have any competition between other pool halls and also quality. I often prefer to go to the cheaper one even though it is not as nice. But your rates sound pretty normal and reasonable (at least compared to other halls around me).

I just opened up mine back in late January this year in Rowland Heights, CA. Like someone else has mentioned, it's all about demographics and locations. Here's my rates

9 Ft tables $16/hr (weekends) and $12/hr (weekdays)
7 Ft Tables $12/hr (weekends and $10/hr (weekdays)
Snooker $24/hr (weekends) and $20/hr (weekdays)

I charge flat per hour rates and doesn't matter how many people there are in a group. People around here will generally get multiple tables if they have a large group. For example, group of about 20 heads came in over the weekend and they got 4 7footers. They get multiple tables and it brings in other customers as well. My philosophy is to occupy as many table as possible since all my profits, overhead costs are already factored into the rates.

We have a pretty high rent due to our location and our unit size but we've turned profits both months we've been in operation (Feb/March) and business is getting better and better each week.

We also have a VIP card program set up that gives the users 20% discount. They're available in tiers of $200, $500, $1000. We'll be making a few adjustments here and there in the next few months but what we have right now works pretty well. Again, this all depends on demographics and location. This works extremely well for us to recoup some of our start-up cost. Instant cash flow!

VIP card or players asoc. - club is a great tool for business . This locks in those customers to your room as they will not get a discount any where else . Also this money should be used offset the cost to recover the tables . I'm willing to pay to play on good equipment . I'm totally against free pool , owners who do this don't keep their tables up , why should I , they don't make any money !!! In house , I stress in house , leagues are the next best deal , the director is the key to success . Talk to your customers and get a feel for what they want . People want some value for their money , give it to them and they will spend .
