table re-level questions

I am trying to re-level a 7' Brunswick Dakota. This is my first attempt at this. It's 3 piece slate and I have the rails and leather pockets off. Basically I'm down to cloth covered slate.

I have Simonis 860 on this table. Am I going to have any issues with taking the cloth off the playing surface and then putting it back on once I re-level? There are a lot of staples holding the cloth to the wood around the table. I think I will need to try to remove the staples and then carefully remove the cloth. My fear is that I won't be able to re-stretch the cloth once I take it off.

This is what I think needs to happen next:

Remove cloth from slate.
Remove slate from frame.
Level table frame with shims.
Put slate back on.
Level slate pieces to each other with shims or playing cards.
Water putty the gaps in the slate, dry and sand the putty flush with the slate pieces.
Re-attach cloth to the slate with spray adhesive.
Re-attach rails with rail bolts and pockets with staples.

Am I on the right track here? Any help is appreciated! :)

Do a search.

This has been answered many times. Just run a search of this forum for leveling a slate and you'll find what you need. :)

If the table isn't off too much you may get by with just shimming under the legs.

If not you're pretty much on track with your list.
Shouldn't be a problem getting the cloth off once all the staples are out.
Just mark it (and the slates) so you can reinstall the same way.

The problem I see is restretching the cloth - assuming it was trimmed after installed.
Simonis is tight and doesn't stretch much to begin with.
You can use glue but you won't have much cloth to grab onto to stretch it. A cloth puller might help.
If it becomes too much of a problem you're looking at a new piece of cloth for the slate.

For the slate seams you can use beeswax which may be a bit easier for you to work with
and you won't have to do any sanding (not recommended).

Thanks for the advice guys. I searched past threads and found realkingcobra's documents which seem to be pretty in-depth.

I'll work through it and see how it goes.
