my corner pockets r 4.5 now if i add 1/4 facings will make it closer to 4.25 right? i was wondering if could add the 1/4 inch facing to both sides and 1/8 gluing them together what size pocket would i have and would it still play decent for a good practice table. i can not afford the rail extentions at this time plus i do not want to cut up my new table. any advice would be great guys please. thanks professor

You're talking about 3/8" total in shims, not really going to play very well. As far as cutting up your table to extend the rail, not a cut one is done to the rails, they're extened with wood first as you can see in the pictures Donny just posted.

tys glenn if add 1/4 facing to my 4.5 pocket what would the size be an guessing u remove the factory facing please excuse my ignorance , just trying learn alittle something here. ty for your time professor

You have to determine how thick the factory facings are to get an accurate answer. If the current facings measure 1/8 and you replace them with 1/4 you are tightening the pocket opening by 1/4 assuming of course that you remove the old facings. Also check to make sure all the factory facings are the same size. I've seen some that were different between the sides & corners.
