Table size?

If you had the room for any size table what would you get a 7, 8, OS 8, or 9 foot? Not gonna competing in any tournaments where it’s all 9 footers. Around here it’s mostly 7 ft tables. Another question will playing on a 9 ft table make your 7 ft game better?

9, all the way. Playing on anything makes your game better. There may be something to playing on the same size table, but not a ton. Sevens will have more clusters, but nines often have clusters, too. You have to be more accurate to break up clusters on a nine, so it's a wash.

I used to play a cash league on sevens and always played on nines when I want playing tourneys or league. I did alright.

At 66 years old, if I had to choose one table to play and compete on for the remainder of my playing days, I would seriously have to consider a 7-footer.

On a 7’ table I can at least think I could continue to compete with the young guns. On a 9’ table, to be realistic, I know that I have no chance.

Even just for solo practice sessions at home, I just think I’d have more success and more fun on the 7 foot table. However, in choosing this route, I’m conceding that competing on a big table would be brutally tough if I never practice on one.

I have a 9’ Gold Crown in my apartment. In my leasing office, there is a home style 7’ table. I do love my GC. Yet, there is a confidence boost when I play on the 7’ table. I think it’s more fun on the 7’, whereas if I want to work on my game the 9’ is the one.

It depends if you want to look good or play hard:)

That is a good point, for a home table, I would pretty much want the harder equipment. Even if I don't run out every other rack, it's still fun to play on and improve on or keep in at least the same skill level I had last week. I don't care if I dog every other shot at home by myself or even with friends, so that is the place I want to have 4.25" pockets and 9 footers.

For me, 9 footer. I lived with a roommate many years ago who had an OS 8, and I thought it was a pretty good compromise between the 9ft and 7ft. My dream home room would be a 6x12 snooker table, 5x10 billiard table, and a 9foot pool table. One can dream.
