Table: Slate or MDF

I would like to know the difference of feeling between playing on a professional table (slate) and a table where the slate is replaced by MDF?

I never played on a MDF table, only on 9ft (occasionally 8ft) professional ones.

Thanks,
Marc

There is no comparison between the two.
MDF tables are way too light, they move/rock back and forth on a hard shot
and when you lean on them.

Jump shots are out of the question, you will damage MDF easily.

Short and sweet, MDF tables are kids toys, nothing anything you will get pleasure out
of even if you only play very occasionally on it.

MDF tables are a waste of money.

They come with crappy cloth that will wear out after 8 months, and the cloth can't be replaced so it means buying a table every 8 months. Slate table, for home use will last you 5 years easily if you care for it before having to replace cloth.

They are cheap for a reason, they don't react like a normal table. The grain in the MDF alters the CBs path resulting in whitey snaking around the table. You can't jump, masse or hammer the break because balls jumping up and the tip smashing into the MDF will leave pot holes in the bed.

I don't know if anyone knows this, but MDF tables are a fire hazard...killing 1.2million people in 2012 alone!!!!!

So yeah, buy slate, or travel to a pool hall.
