Table Specifications

Have any of the major sanctioning bodies, or tours, ever tried to set table specs? Or at least recommend some? You know like the detailed stuff.....

I have often wondered if there is a standardized specification for a table. It looks like the major tours choose a brand of tables based on sponsorship and then are at the mercy of the manufactor's specs.

What I hear when people match up is "what table?"

I see obvious dificulties in this being done . But wouldn't it be nice.
