tablesaw tapering

i've got a "little" project going...which all of you know what that means...lots of time, and money....long live harbor freight for things i can remanufacture lol

i been wanting to make an ultralight rig for tapering for one of my table set ups.

i've got a bunch of part and been having erectorsetting it lol.....i have some spare motors and was thinking about using one of the micro table saws from HF, just for the motor and such or even one of my spare motors from my manual panto from scott which is 3/4hp but no load for inlays and engraving (were talking small passes here)

have a linear glide and ball screw i was going to mount low and inbetween the lathe bed with a mount to "chuck and live center the spindle of the motor/tool spindle (keep vibration low)....which would all follow the adj taper bar accordingly via the spring mount.

I would enclose the blade in a plexi box and such.

Has anyone ever tried anything like this? my friend said try a dremel but thats just a half ass cheap way to do what i'm doing and not accurate and the motors aren't up to snuff for that.

my thoughts were that both that little micro saw/s i have (i got one for chopping small stuff close and another set up with a diamond blade) and the panto motors are real H/S and low vibration...including a spindle center, in my mind i think this may work pretty well.

I do have a longer bed and such to be fine with any extra distance a 4" saw blade would cause me to loose. there are also plenty of precision blades that size, retail stores do not carry though, unless its at a high end hobby shop.

thoughts?
