Very very rare Tad Kohara custom cue. I personally showed this to Tad in person and he told me that he made the cue around 1965 and that only 10 or less were made this way with the clear plastic window with the "Original By Tad" band. Brass joint sleeve with rare extra long pin (wood to wood). Original Cortland linen wrap. This cue is 100% original. *This cue is not in 100% condition* All of the rings are plastic and have expanded and contracted, including the butt sleeve. The shaft collars are also expanded. The black plastic collars below the joint are also cracked (see arrows in pictures). The forearm has a slight warp, right below the joint. When rolled on a table the joint pin wobbles slightly but it is noticeable, I think this is more due to the fact that the joint collars are cracked. Shaft is also warped, when rolled on a table the wobble is in the middle closer towards the joint end, but the tip and ferrule do not bounce it rolls straight on the tip end which makes the shaft still playable but not straight. The brass joint is also loose you can twist it slightly with a tight grip (original glues from the 60's were not as strong as today's glues). The entire butt sleeve is also slightly loose, with a tight grip you can semi twist the collars on the butt sleeve, which also the entire butt sleeve is plastic from the black sleeves to the clear window. Clear window has a leather strip inside that is stamped "Original By Tad" Shaft has original ferrule (non ivory) and original champion tip. Butt weighs 16.59 oz and shaft weighs 3.4 oz and is around 12.25 mm (not exact on measurement).
Cue was inherited from original owner by his daughter, who is now engaged to my friend, to which I am listing this cue for. I took this cue to Tad in hopes of repairing the cue. Tad said to fix this cue he would have to replace the joint and pin, replace the wrap with new linen in order to turn out the warp and replace the black plastic butt sleeves with ebony. Tad's recommendation was to not change the cue because it would not have any original parts as well that the repair would cost a lot because it is practically building a new cue. Also Tad thought the cue would be worth more in it's current condition.
Have no particular price in mind. Looking for offers, trying to feel what the cue is worth so send offers to me and will take them into consideration.
