Do as you wish, but if they wont escrow I wont buy.

Best of Luck

Ken-I had never contemplated spending that kind of $$$ on an EBay deal. I couldn't agree with you more - any fee that Scott S. might charge would be minimal as compared to getting the bad end of a deal. As I said in a previous post - I mentioned both escrow and "having a friend in the area." All communcation stopped after that.

Well, what was his reaction?

Also his feedback at ebay looks fine to me.

I had emailed him asking what his reserve was and letting him know that I would get to his reserve and even beyond if need be. He knew I was a serious buyer.

After mentioning "escrow" and "a friend in the area" to the seller - all communication stopped.

His feedback was fine but it was mostly as a buyer and wasn't recent and that just added to my skepticism.

I haven't even checked to see how the auction ended.

Tad

Every cue that I have seen of that model Tad has had a delrin butt cap. You might go check out J&J Cues at www.jjcue.com. Ask for Judy, she is the main Tad dealer that I know of. Tell her that Steve from Hard Times told you to call if you are really interested in getting a Tad. You will have no problems with her. Also Joe Salazar of The Connoisseur of Custom Cues might have a used one for sale. I have had friends buy and sale cues with him and they have not had any problems. I think he will also do trade ins if you have something he likes.

Thanks Steve !

I have this strange love of older looking classic style cues, i.e. ss or ivory joints, plain janes or 4 pointers with white butt caps or hoppe rings, simple ringwork etc etc. I've hit and own plenty of wood/wood jointed stuff by the younger cuemakers, its just something about a old Tad, or Joss or Jensen that makes me want to reach for my wallet. LOL - nah - its not that bad but you probably know what I mean. Thanks - I'll call Judy and drop your name.

Regards,

Keith

i remembered fondly that my first cue bought off Ebay, a fancy Blud Ebony and Ivory, was using the escrow service..

Since then, whenever a cue by a low feedbacker catches my fancy, every offers of doing a escrow with me paying the escrow fees has always met with rejection. i guess people dont want to go through that trouble.
