anyone have an estimate of what this tad might be worth? 3 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules and moori tips. finish has been worn off entire forearm and butt of cue....but it still looks and plays nice.

thanks for any info

You sure that's a tad? Maybe Tillis copied Tad? Anyway it's a nice cue. www.tampabilliards.com/ydsale.html

wow that is pretty funny it looks very similar.

Anyways, if this is a real Tad it would be worth about 2500 maybe more since all the ferrules are ivory. My friend had a very old Tad similar to this one and that is what Tad told us what it was worth but my friends cue only had one shaft, but the butt sleeve was more unique as it also had mother of pearl squares in the fancy ring as well.

Tad

From what i'm told tillis usually used if not alway used micarta ferulles. He probably copied a design or maybe it's just one of those freak things. You know they say everyone has a twin somewhere. That might apply to pool cues to.

I'm POSITIVE it is a Tad Cue because it is mine and I've had it 30 plus years and I don't know who Raecarmia is but
that cue was refinished a few years ago and never played with since.

Raecarmia = If someone is trying to sell this cue to you, send me a PM!!!

I'm a little surprised to see my cue on AZ. I took those pictures on my kitchen table along with another Tad that I own!

I bought it from Tad in the middle 70's!
It is here in front of me as I write this.

I would like to know where the pictures came from because I thought I took the pictures off my website a while ago?
I'm going to put up some other pictures along with A 1972 Tad that I have never photographed before!

As far as the Tillis cue link I would bet that is also a Tad and they don't know it.
I think if they pull of the bumper there is a good chance there is a seriel # there, if it was made by Tad after 1978!

I have pretty much the same cue and I took it in on trade for one of my cues and I was also told it was a TAD. It is possible that they have a Tad in Florida that they think is a Tillis.

What ever happened to the situation with the original poster? Was he being swindled?

I would love to see that cue if you still plan to post it!

Turns out that the pool cue was sold by a dealer advertised as a Rocky Tillis pool cue back in the mid-1980's and that it was the dealer's explanation that the pin was shaved down because the pin was damaged. I have a friend in Florida who helped me get more info and who later purchased the cue. Condition is not bad considering it is a well played cue, definitely in need of a refinish.

Underneath the bumper is Serial# 317 stamped into the wood.

I would say by that serial # that cue is from around 1980. You can call Tad's son Fred and ask if you really want to know. They have a record of every cue after 1978 I believe.

As far as the other person asking about the original post. He sent me a post explaining that a person was wanting to sell a Tad that looked like this and he used a picture of my cue as an example.
No harm No foul
Here is a link to my other old Tad

Thanks, I had a feeling that might be the case when considering that there were about 100 cues per year produced. I'll ask Fred when I go visit next month since the cue needs refinishing.

Agreed.

Very nice other TAD, I like the classic style. Should post the pictures in the other TAD thread.
