Taking the Pocket Out of Aiming

Since you are new to the forum, I will point out that the reason the aiming sub-forum exists is because about 15 years ago CTE threads turned the main forum into a toxic waste dump. The many CTE posts are still in the archives, should you be interested, you can search for them.

Since you are an aspiring scientist, I offer this unsolicited advice: Regarding CTE, run away, run as far and as fast as you can. Do not look back.
I totally agree and have very similar opinions about it.

Almost all strong players (think VERY strong) who pivot, do so in their mind's eye and then bring the cue straight down on their chosen stroke line.

I don't use CTE but on some cuts, I start by looking at ball "edges" then adjust.

Same! I think the concept of looking for the ball edges is important, not the hidious idea of pivoting when your down on the shot.
