Talisman Tips OB 1 questions

What are some differences in hit and ability to spin the ball and also which miscue easier or hold chalk better between the Talisman tips that are available. I'm using a OB 1 shaft that came with a Medium Talisman and I think it was the pro series tip, on another OB 1 I changed to a tiger soft laminated and it sucked so I put on a soft Kamui and it sucked so now I have either a Talisman soft pro or a Talisman medium water buffalo and I was wandering which one of these two tips will play like the Talismans that come on OB 1 shafts from the factory. I guess what I want to know is the medium buffalo tip going to really end up being hard or the same almost as the medium pro Talisman, I wish I would have played the factory tip till I was hitting the cue ball with the carbon fiber disc. I don't know if it will ever play as nice as it did before I cut the factory tip off.--Leonard

Just buy another Talisman medium. The one's you have should be almost the same. DO you not have the fiber disk anymore?
 
Yea I have trimed down to the disc for every tip but have not removed it or much of it , Those darn factory tips hit real good and what I've tried hit like crap. I also have a soft Molavia tip but after those other two bombs I want a Talisman again. I have about ten soft Talisman pros so maybe I can trade for a Talisman medium pro if the water buffalo medium won't get the job done it is being glued on with Gorrilla glue overnight right now. At least I didn't mess with the other OB 1 shaft so I still have 1 good playing shaft.
 
Owen also installs the Moori hard on the OB-1 which is what I have been using for 6 months and I love it. It responds well no matter what english I use or how firm I stroke the shot. I feel that the Talisman is too mushy of a hit for me. The Moori hard gives me more feedback from my cue.
 
I use Talisman WB-M on a few cues that I own and love the hit of the WB, give them a chance, you might end up liking them in the long run.

The Talisman Pro on my brand new OB-1 lasted about 2 months then delaminated. Unfortunately this is the same experience I've had with the 2other Talisman Pros I've used in the past on other shafts. And no, I don't constantly reshape or pick at my tips, all I ever do is tip-tap them occasionally. I do play with a dime profile though, and find that even if the tip is a nickel to start with it naturally wears to a dime over time as I chalk and play with it.

Whilst it lasted the Talisman felt fine to me. I usually play with a Kamui Hard. When I took the OB-1 to get re-tipped the cue mechanic did not have any Kamui's so I've decided to try a Tiger Sniper. Initial impressions are favorable, so as long as it wears well I'll stick with that for now. The mechanic also pointed out to me that particular shaft and ferrule combinations will feel different with the same tip, which makes sense to me.

Yea I'll post tommorow and tell you how the WB medium Tallisman feels and hits, I'm tired of changing tips and wasting them so I have my fingers crossed.--Leonard

Im having a problem with the Morri on my new Joss, Ive used Morri Soft tips on several cues, and is one of the reasons I bought a mezz, lol.. anyways, this Morri, is a ton harder that the previous Morri soft's and when your tip delaminated. did the middle of the tip mushroom? I have one layer, the middle layer is fraying and looks like its sticking out further, so Id call it mushrooming. I only have around 3 hours on the tip. The previous tips Ive had, I might have to touch them up once a month, but never anything like this.

The only tip as of Now (never had a problem with morri before) that has given me zero trouble is a Sniper, I put one on a players cue just to try it, and Have been breaking with it, hard, and it hasnt mushroomed at all, I have since been using it on bar tables because I can get so much stuff with those heavy cue balls. I did notice a tick, but I scuffed it once and it went away and actualy plays even better now. I wish I had that tip on my Joss, and is proboly what I'll do.

General observations on OB-1 12.75mm with different tips.

Sniper hit very well, but got much harder with time. Good control, predictable results and nice feedback. Although by the end I liked the tip less which is weird. Good spinning action. Some miscues but not often.

Tiger Medium, could not control the ball, unpredictable results. Feedback was always different. There was too much spin. Delaminated in 2.5 months. Virtually no miscues.

Moori soft, this tip is a piece of junk, fell apart, mushroomed and delaminated.

Triangle Medium/Hard harder to put spin on the ball. However, predictable consistent results. Have to play more to the center. Some miscues. Making the tip more round improved spinning greatly.

I have a feeling that with OB-1 soft tips don’t work very well.
This shaft puts crazy spins. :)
 
I trimed down the WB Tallisman medium and went upstairs to the Diamond and hit three racks of 9 ball ghost with it and I will definitly be cutting that sucker off tommorow and trying the Tallisman soft pro because the WB tip is almost as clinky and hard as phenolic and it was supposed to be a medium. I can't stand the clink even on slow roll shots and it don't spin anything like the factory tip from OB 1 so they must use Medium Pro Tallisman tips.--Leonard

One side note though the Gorilla glue holds like welding for sure and I took Olson's advice and wet both the tip and ferrule.

I've been using a Sniper on mine and it's much better IMO than the Talisman that came on it. I also had trouble with the Talisman delaminating when shaping it to a dime radius. It would lose the top layer and leave a little flat spot. Sniper doesn't do this, but I think the layers are thinner on the Sniper, so that may have something to do with it. Just my .02, YMMV.
 
I found the answer for me atleast and it is the Tallisman Pro series tips, I put on a soft pro lastnight and trimmed it today and the great hit is back, so I am a happy camper.--Leonard
