I,m considering having one put on my scruggs. I've mainly used one piece tips and I was looking for some feedback as to how the talismans play. Do they really fall apart as I've seen on some other thread some time ago? So c'mon guys, who loves 'em, who hates 'em and why? TIA

p.s. I know there have been a gazillion threads on this, but what's one more gonna hurt? ;)

Two of my shafts have Talisman...one has a Talisman Pro Medium, the other the Talisman WB Medium. It is the best tip I have ever used. However, I have never shot with a Moori. The regular Talisman seems to grab a little better than the WB...but I like both..mike

Talisman

Crawdaddio, I have been using and installing them for two years. A lot of custom cuemakers also use them. I think they are a very good layered tip. It is a matter of choice. The only problem I have had was with the buffalo hard tips. I have had two out of five installed split on the owners. They both were used for breaking. Maybe not a good idea.

The WB Talismen tips play well and last a long time with almost no need for maintanance once the the tip settles down (about 2 hours of play). The only watch out is to be very careful if and when you burnish the tip. The tip can delaminate it you apply too much force during the burnishing process. Therefore it is best to burnish the tip once you have played with with it for a couple of hours.

Never use a tip pik on any laminated tip since it will surely delaminate. All in all once installed and finally touched up after a couple of hours of play you should be able to realize 100-150 hours of hard play without any problem. The tips hold chalk very well and are very responsive to English applications with minimal miscues. Hopes this helps.

My favorite...

I could not find anyone here who used Talisman tips before I did. I have since converted several Moori, Triangle, Lepro, Triumph users to switch. I love the feel and sound of a layered tip, and these seem to miscue much less than Moori's. I would recommend using a medium, as it is already fairly hard. The WB is definately the way to go.
I have never had a problem using a tip-pick on one either. You only need to tap it lightly, once the tip compresses. Just enough to put some small pores in it. You may also want to shave it down to half or less of the rounded size. I've found that to have the best feel.
The only thing I can add is to just try one. It's cheaper than buying a new stick to try and improve the hit.

I've been using and installing Talisman Pro tips for a few years with great success. I used one Soft for about 15 months of every day use and only replaced it 'cuz it started to feel to hard for my taste. I have customers switch from Moori and are now permanent converts.

Blatant commercial message... See http://www.azbilliards.com/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?p=28934#post28934

Talisman are the Best!

I have played with them and I sell them on my website. They are priced right compared to Moori's and Everest and they perform very well. They also have four grades: soft, medium, hard, extra hard. I also do tip work and I usually recommend them to all my customers. Not had one customer that was not happy with them.

Kevin,
Are you going to be in the Sterling Booth at VF?

I am not sure

I am going to be at their booth out in Vegas next week, but they have not ask me to help them with Valley Forge. It looks like I will not be there, but if they need my help, I will be there. I have not had any shirts printed up since the Derby, but when I do, I will be sure to get you one Frank. Talk to you soon!
