....Now this is luck. Being in the right place at the right time......The guy who works in my local pool hall was standing outside having a cigarette and a young lad walks up and asks him if he knows anybody who would like to buy a cue. The guy who works in the pool hall says let me have a look see. So the guy pulls the cue from the case and tells the worker that he only wants $50.00 for it. Something about being in financial trouble. Well the worker cannot get the money out of his pocket fast enough. The cue was a really nice Schon that this man paid over $800.00 retail for. (the worker called the other pool room and verified the cost and that it was not stolen). it only has 1 shaft and does need to be refinished. But $50.00. If i was not standing there when he handed him the money i would not have believed it. right now the guy who bought it already has a standing offer of $500.00 for it the way it is. Why can't i have that kind of luck. If i can get a picture of it i wil post it on here............................mike

Possibly, tell your buddy to hurry up and sell it Just in case. LOL.

I wonder what I would have told the seller.

I think I would have taken the cue inside, and started asking around if anyone recognized it. $50? you gotta know something isn't fresh. Funny how there'd be no questions at say $300.

sounds legit to me...I've worked in a few pool rooms, and bought/sold cues cheap all the time. Most times someone was getting divorced.....a girlfriend selling an x's stuff.....or the rent was due, but I never had anyone come in loooking for a stolen cue....

Well the young gent who did the selling was asked by the room worker if it was hot and he told him to go inside and call the pool room where he plays and ask the owner to verify if it was stolen or not.(since that is where he bought it new) and the owner up there verified who the kid was and that the cue was not stolen or whatever. it appears the kid doing the selling had a little legal problem with some type of driving offence and needed the money. Just never dawned on him what it was worth. even tho it needs to be refinished........................mike

Wow! Somehow I thought it was a stranger or something. Now I get it.

That's some lucky stuff alright. However, if the OO bought it new, I would venture to guess that he knew what it was worth. It appears that its actual worth is more than what it was worth to him at the time.

When I worked at a poolroom I picked up a plain Richard Black for $80 from the original owner... sometimes people get desparate.

I think that is what have happened here. Maybe the guy was THAT desperate for money.....still a hell of a deal.......................mike
