I'm going to be in Tampa/st. pete over the holidays. can anyone recommend any pool halls there and list the weekly tournament schedules if there are any? The only two pool halls I've heard about are planet 9 ball and bakers. planet 9 ball is the one that buddy hall owns right? Also if someone could point me in the direction of a good pool hall with lots of action in that area I'd appreciate it. thanks in advance. patrick

Another hot spot is Strokers in Palm Harbor. There's also Capone's in Spring Hill, but that's a little bit of a drive.

i'm not familiar with the tampa bay area... how far away is palm harbor?

I think palm harbor is just above clearwater. depending where you are in tampa it "if my memory serves me correct" could be as little as 20 minutes to almost an hour. I will be in tampa myself during the holidays and was going to go to planet 9 ball on tuesday the 27th maybe I'll run into you.

patrick,

the action room would be "family" in clearwater.

planet 9 ball is big and nice. west tampa.

its a pretty broad area your asking about and strokers (palm harbor) probably fits in there too.

some of the others are a little ????????

if you know where you will be i could narrow it down for you.

there are many rooms depending on what your looking for.

just dont bring any snow. john.

Here's a map...

Capone's is just north of the edge of this screen by 589...

All of them I think :).

I know Strokers is Monday night handicapped and Wednesday night open (each at 8) and another tournament on Saturday.

I play out of Strokers.
They have a monday night handicap and a wednesday night open event both usuallly pay around $150 to the winner, Cappones has a monday night 10 ball event $500 added this is is a very strong event, a typical monday night you will see Rodney Morris, Rob Saez, Earlk Strickland, Tony Crosby(me) Richie Richeson and many of the best local amatuer players.
If i can help in anyway let me know.
Tony Crosby

Strokers may be the best option for the dates you have mentioned.Good action, good tournaments, good food and a nice place with good equiptment. You didn't mention where you'd be staying in Tampa, but Capones is a 40 minute drive up the Veterans Expressway and there's always something going on there.I run a monthly $25 entry,$125 Added 9-Ball tournament the last Sunday of every month at Planet 9-Ball,but since the last Sunday falls on Christmas day,I won't be holding a tournament this month.I will resume on Jan.29th at noon.

I went all through there selling cues. I will try and find my literature.
Toms side pocket Sat. afternoon if I remember.

Tony, is that $500 tournament an open tournament?

Smorg is that monthly tournament handicapped or open?

thanks to both for the info.

To the thread starter...another option is to drop by the Flamingo bar in st pete to see if there is any action going on. That place has been know to have some action.
