Taom Break Tip or Mezz Sonic?

I have a Sonic Tip that came on my Mezz Deep impact, everyone is saying to put a Taom on it. Should I? I heard one guy shattered one, but my break is so feeble that I don't think I will be shattering anything. So do you folks think the Toam will make that big a difference? was thinking of going back to Samsara or Tiger Ice-breaker.
What to do!!!!!!!!!!

I have both the 1st gen OB Break (comes w/ the Samsara tip) & the Mezz PB PRO with the H shaft. I prefer the hit of the Sonic tip. It's more solid in feel & it doesn't feel like I'm hitting the CB w/o any tip - this is the impression I get with the Samsara tip. I also didn't find the lack of control with the Sonic tip which some people claim here in the forums. In fact, I plan to re-tip my OB w/ a Sonic tip soon.

I have a Taom 2.0 on my breaker and it works great. Feels nice when hit and the break is easily controllable. You can hit quite far from center too with it without miscuing, noticed when training to break hard  Overall a great tip, definitely worth the price in my opinion. Havent tried the sonic though so i cant really compare those two. Hope this helps :)

Gear-wise, I'm in a position which I hope proves valuable to you. I've got a Deep Impact shaft with the stock Sonic tip, and a Deep Impact Pro R shaft with an updated Taom. In general, I prefer the Taom. It feels a bit more bouncy and easier to control. Comparatively, the Sonic feels in between the Taom and phenolic. Really hard, but with the slightest sense of compression. I measured how hard I could break in a silent room over 30 breaks on each shaft with the Breakspeed app, and averaged about 24.7mph with the Pro R + Taom, and 26.6mph with the original Deep Impact.

I prefer to break around 19mph and try to stop the ball center table with a bit of hop and top on it. For that, I find my resulting spreads and leaves much more consistent and favorable with the Taom. The Sonic is very good, but I wasn't able to control it as well as I would've liked.

As far as shattering, that is supposedly a known issue with the first generation. As long as you order from a big name (Mika, Jayson), you should be supplied with the updated version. It's a very interesting tip, and worth trying out.

Thanks for your info! I don't know Mika or Jayson, do you have a link to where you can purchase a Taom Tip?

They're not widely sold retail yet, so it's a good excuse to get to know them!

I got mine from Mika shipped from a friend of his in Valencia.

tip purchase

I purchased a few from Oscar Dominguez. I found him on facebook after watching steaming of mezz state tour a few weeks in a row. They were shipped a few days later and I got them. Have not had time to put them on yet though.
