TAP League: Time limit 45 sec

My team Captain doesn't observe the time limit rule when our opponents go over the time limit. Often they take almost 2 munites and just lets it go.
I am a slow player but I don't go over the time limit.

So, is the rule only the captain can call it? As the opponent, I would think you have some say into it, no?

Time up

I haven't noticed it much when I was playing because I may have been concentrating on the game. I notice it more when our team member is playing. I think it's up to the scorekeeper to say when the time is up, using the Phone APP.

Never seen anyone with a clock watching shot timers in TAP in my area. In fact, never even read about a shot clock in the rules, but I guess I could have just missed that part. Been to their tournament in SBE also and watched a bit, no-one was keeping track of shot times.

Don't be such a nit. There is no such thing as a shot clock in TAP. The 45 seconds is just a guideline to move things along. You're going to run into slow players in amateur leagues. But if you want to be "that guy" in the league that complains, go right ahead.

In the online scoring app there is a shot clock that times every shot. Never saw anyone complain though so I wouldn't know what the penalty is.

I can see taking over a minute on a shot if it is a super tough shot but average shots should in NO WAY take more than ~45 seconds.

For some reason, I take longer when playing the ghost than when I play another player. I guess because I know a miss is a loss with ghost.

Does he also ignore general rules of society and law?

The 45 second rule, according to the rule-book is moreover an average, a player can be warned about slow play and then penalized with a ball in hand foul if they continue to take much longer than an average of 45 seconds per shot. My understanding is that this is enforced at nationals...and some of the more strict titleholders events, but I have never personally seen it enforced.

I guess I’m in the minority but I pay no attention to what my opponent is doing or how long. I’m focused on how I’m going to run the 9 or 8 ball up there a$$ when they miss.
